Lucifer the Archangel:
Michael the Archangel:
Story of the Battle Between Michael the Archangel and the Devil:
The story begins when Lucifer, the most beautiful of the Archangels turns his back on God and his brothers Michael and Gabriel. Lucifer turned on God because he feels that he is just as fit to rule the heavens as God is, so he goes through heaven, pitches his idea, and forms an army with all of the angels that believe they too are being cheated. When God gets word of this he immediately calls for Michael the Archangel to form an opposing army of good. The number of angels that loved God much outweighed the number that hated him and fought for Lucifer, so, as always, good triumphed over evil in this war of "Good vs Evil" as it is commonly referred to. This biblical story is said to happen at the end of time, so for that reason it is located in the Book of Revelation.
Here is an excerpt from revelation:
Revelation 12:7-9: "Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down -- that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him."
In the end, Michael's army, the army of good and the army of God defeats the army of evil and no other but Michael himself does the deed of banishing Lucifer from the heavens forever, just as Hades was banished by Hercules into the underworld under the command of Zeus when Hades tried to overthrow Mt. Olympus in Ancient Greek Mythology.
- Known by many names including Lucifer, Satan, The Devil, and Beelzebub
- Was actually an archangel just like Michael, infact, he was the most beautiful of the angels and was regarded as the “Son of the Morning”
- One day Lucifer thought to himself, I am beautiful and powerful, I can transform into other things and fly, I can do all of these things just as God can. So why is it that he gets the rule heaven and not me? So thats just what he set out to do. Lucifer gathered all the other angels in heaven that he was able to convince that they were being cheated, and formed an army with them, against God. When God got word of this he felt sad and betrayed, but was also similarly furious, so he called upon Michael to gather an army of his own to take down Lucifer and expel him from heaven forever. So… thats just what Michael did, and from then on Lucifer was banished from heaven forever.
- Since then, Lucifer has tried to do everything evil to get back at God. The worst of his traits is “Jealousy,” and who do you think he is most jealous of? Us! because when Christ died and was risen, and the door of heaven were opened to us in our after life, we got something that Lucifer could never have again no matter how hard he tries. For that reason, Lucifer, “The Devil” takes most of his anger out on us, God’s children, whom he resents most of all.
Michael the Archangel:
- When God made the heavens and the Earth he also created angels, the most special of these angels being called “Archangels” (just as Archbishops are very special bishops)
- Archangel- God’s very closest of angels, they were strong, shining, and more powerful than other angels
- “Michael” literally meaning: who is like God, was one of God’s best angels and friends
- Michael appears biblically as the messenger angel that appears to Moses, Jacob, and to Abraham
- Was assigned by God to form an army to defeat Lucifer and his army of traitors to God
- Defeated Lucifer and expelled him to the underworld (hell) for the rest of eternity
